Forestville (Md.) Bishop McNamara cornerback Ashton White submitted his letter of intent to Notre Dame on Wednesday.
The 5-11, 182-pounder is listed as a three-star recruit, the No. 21 player in Maryland and the No. 75 cornerback in the country by Rivals.

Measurables
• Runs a 4.48-second 40-yard dash and 4.2 20-yard shuttle.
Statistics
• Finished his senior season with 58 tackles (38 solo) and two interceptions. Also had 10 receptions for 112 yards as a wide receiver.
• Totaled 58 tackles, three forced fumbles, two interceptions and one fumble recovery for a touchdown as a junior.
Recruitment
• Committed to the Irish on July 1, 2014. Originally pledged to Virginia Tech on Dec. 12, 2013, before decommitting on March 8, 2014.
• Chose Notre Dame over, among others, Boston College, Iowa, Ohio State, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.
• Primary recruiters at Notre Dame were defensive backs coach Kerry Cooks and tight ends coach Scott Booker.
• Officially visited South Bend for the Football Awards Show on Dec. 12, 2014, plus made an unofficial trip on June 27, 2014.
• Also unofficially visited Maryland, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Penn State and Virginia.

• Could play cornerback or safety in college, but is likely to redshirt in his first season.

Rivals Mid-Atlantic recruiting analyst Adam Friedman: "Ashton is super physical with long arms, and he takes a lot of chances. If he is able to rein it in a little bit and understand and play within the scheme, he could do well at Notre Dame.
"It will be difficult for him to cover some speed demons or some bigger receivers, but he is really scrappy. He competes constantly and never takes off a play. That is a really good quality to have in a defensive back."
Prep Football Report's Tom Lemming: "Saw him play and I thought he was a solid DB. I don't think he's as good as a couple of the other guys and I thought he would wind up at West Virginia or Maryland, but Notre Dame came after him after losing a couple of other guys."
