Rivals150 SG Dane Goodwin Is Irish

Notre Dame has landed its third commitment in the 2018 class with Upper Arlington (Ohio) Rivals150 shooting guard Dane Goodwin announcing his pledge this evening to the Irish and Mike Brey's program.

Goodwin ranks as the No. 123 player nationally and also holds offers from Villanova and Ohio State, among others.

The 6-foot-4, 170-pound Goodwin de-committed from Ohio State late last month after being part of the Buckeye class for over two years. He took an official visit to Ohio State later in the month.

Goodwin made a trip to South Bend shortly before that decision and landed an offer from the Irish on the trip. BGI learned the day of Goodwin's de-commitment that Notre Dame was a "dream school" for Goodwin and another source added the offer was a "special opportunity" for the family.

Notre Dame also holds commitments from top-50 point guard Prentiss Hubb out of Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga, Mars (Pa.) Rivals100 shooting guard Robby Carmody in addition to Goodwin.

In 12 games on the Nike EYBL circuit, Goodwin is averaging 13 points and 4.2 rebounds per game while shooting 48.6 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from deep.

Goodwin's father, Damon, is the head coach at Capital University, a Division III school in Columbus, Ohio. He played collegiately at Dayton.
