Rivals100 Linebacker Will Ignont Says He Wants To Visit Notre Dame

Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy Rivals100 linebacker Will Ignont says he plans to see Notre Dame.

Ignont said Saturday at the Rivals Camp Series Presented by Under Armour stop in Atlanta that he's eyeing a trip to South Bend in either June or July.

"I plan on visiting Notre Dame sometime this summer with my boy [five-star defensive end Josh Kaindoh]. Me and him are real high on those guys," Ignont said. "Really with Notre Dame it doesn't get any better academically wise. If I got there I have a career after football. Whether it's the NFL or in the workforce, so that's something good."

Blue & Gold Illustrated reported earlier this week that Kaindoh is set to visit Notre Dame in a few weeks ($) and while Ignont isn't expected to make the trip with the nation's top-ranked defensive end, his interest in Notre Dame isn't something that's new. Back in February when Ignont was offered by the Irish he said that he liked the out-of-state school because they compared him to ex-star linebacker Jaylon Smith ($).

“It’s really cool to be compared to someone like him,” Ignont said. “That’s what I’m working towards to get compared to guys like that. It helps to see someone that has had that success and then be told that you can do the same.”

Ignont, who is ranked by Rivals.com as the No. 2 inside linebacker in the class and the nation's No. 55 overall prospect, is also considering Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Georgia and UCLA. He has taken recent visits to Georgia, Alabama and Auburn.
