Preseason All-USA Today Defensive Team Features Notre Dame Commit, Targets
Jordan Botelho has earned another preseason honor.
The four-star Notre Dame drop end commit was named to the 2019 All-USA Today Preseason High School Defensive Team this week.
Botelho is coming off a strong junior campaign that saw him register 15 sacks, 13 tackles for loss and score four defensive touchdowns. He earned invitations to both the All-American Bowl and Polynesian Bowl.
A four-star prospect, Botelho committed to Notre Dame in April over offers from Georgia, LSU, Nebraska, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, USC, Washington and several other major programs.
At 6-foot-3, 230 pounds, Botelho is ranked as the No. 18 outside linebacker and No. 214 overall recruit in the country, per Rivals.com.
Botelho was the only Notre Dame commit on the list, but he was joined by several 2021 targets.
Elite 2021 defensive linemen Korey Foreman, JT Tuimoloau and Payton Page were all selected. All three hold Notre Dame offers, but there hasn’t been much movement on any front.
The secondary featured Rivals100 cornerback Tony Grimes, who listed Notre Dame as one of his top schools earlier this offseason. Grimes has talked about making a trip to South Bend this fall.
Four-star athlete Emeka Egbuka, who is ranked as the No. 1 wide receiver in the 2021 class, made the team as a cornerback. Egbuka visited Notre Dame in the spring and is looking to get back to South Bend soon. The Irish are recruiting Egbuka on the offensive side of the ball.
