Notre Dame Would be 'a Dream Offer' for Three-Star Cornerback OJ Tucker
OJ Tucker has been waiting on this.
Tucker, a three-star cornerback out of Ocala (Fla.) Forest and former Georgia Tech commit, built up a relationship with new Notre Dame defensive coordinator Mike Elko while he was stil at Wake Forest.
When Tucker heard that Elko was headed to Notre Dame, the talented Florida prospect said he couldn’t wait for the phone to ring.
“It’s a real good program,” Tucker said. “I know they get a lot of TV time. They play against some really good competition. It would be a great experience. That’s’ a really historical program to go to.”
Tucker said when he thinks about Notre Dame, the word quality instantly comes to mind.
“It’s just a high up program,” Tucker said. “I like the way they run things. It’s just nice. It looks like they’re disciplined well, and it’s just a good program.”
As far as Elko, Tucker said honesty was a big part of their relationship.
“I like how real he kept it with me,” Tucker said. “He was just real all around with me about college in general.”
“I also like the kind of defense he runs,” Tucker added.
According to Tucker, Elko told him that he would be in touch again once he got settled in South Bend.
Tucker said if that if an Irish offer were to come, he would be thrilled.
“It would be great,” Tucker stated. “It’s a pretty good school, and I’ve always known them. It would be a dream offer.”
Things would have to progress fast between Notre Dame and Tucker should the offer come. With less than a month to go before signing day, Tucker said he would set up an official visit as soon as an offer came.
“I’d do it the day of because I really want to get up there and see it,” Tucker explained. “It would be the biggest offer I have. It’s bigger than probably any other program I’ve been offered by.”
