Columbia (Mo.) Rock Bridge 2019 running back Nathaniel Peat had high hopes before he made his way to South Bend Saturday and his time at Notre Dame met those expectations.

“It's was amazing,” Peat said of the visit. “The campus was amazing. All of the traditions and the fans were great. I really got a good feel for the Notre Dame atmosphere.

“My favorite part was taking the tour and seeing all the facilities. I thought it was pretty cool to see all the great things the players got and all the things they were available to them.”

Despite the frigid temperature, Peat was impressed with the atmosphere and enjoyed how the Irish offense utilized its running backs.

“The game was great,” Peat said. “Notre Dame has a great and loyal fan base winning or losing. I liked Notre Dame's use of the running back in the pass game as well as the running game.”

The continued support from the Notre Dame fan base through the weather was one aspect of Notre Dame which caught the attention of Peat while he was in South Bend.

“The tradition, winning or losing Notre Dame will keep tradition and support the football team,” Peat said. “All the little things like Touchdown Jesus or the walking of the players. It was great to see.”

Peat also enjoyed touring the campus and being able to get a “good feel for the program.” The visit increased his interest in the Irish.

“Notre Dame is a great school that really embraces tradition, has great facilities and a terrific fan base,” Peat said. “I like Notre Dame a lot more now than what I did. It opened my eyes a lot.”

Notre Dame was the first visit Peat has taken this fall and is unsure if he will take others. As a sophomore, Peat rushed for 637 yards and three touchdowns on 119 carries and caught 19 passes for 182 yards and a touchdown for Rock Bridge.
