Rayne Tanega-Doster, a class of 2019 running back from Hialeah Gardens (Fla.) Mater Academy, got his first look at Notre Dame during the weekend of the Miami game.

Tanega-Doster, who stands at 5-foot-11 and weighs in at 170 pounds, said the vibrant colors surrounding Notre Dame caught his eye immediately.

“At first, the color in the trees definitely stuck out to me,” Tanega-Doster said. “There isn't much color down here in south Florida besides green. But the buildings were really nice including the dorms, and the athletic buildings.”

The young prospect said he also loved getting to attend a game in Notre Dame Stadium.

“The visit this weekend was definitely one to remember,” Tanega-Doster stated. “The game day atmosphere was great.”

Even getting invited to the game, Tanega-Doster said, was an honor for someone his age.

It's a very tremendous opportunity to be invited as a sophomore,” Tanega-Doster said. “Considering all of the past great players that went there.”

It’s early, and he doesn’t have an Irish offer yet, but Tanega-Doster said he’s already likes Notre Dame a lot.

“As a football program, the great fan base and all of the game day traditions,” Tanega-Doster said of what attracts him to Notre Dame. “As a school, the academic programs. What sets them apart is the national recognition they get for their academics.”

If a Notre Dame offer ever were to come for Tanega-Doster, he said the Irish would automatically jump up his list.

“That would be huge,” Tanega-Doster said. “They would definitely be up there for me.”
