Answer: B. 1971. Notre Dame was 5-0 entering its home game that season, while USC arrived with a 2-4 record. The Trojans won 28-14 — and did not lose for 23 straight games, winning the 1972 national title before getting the streak snapped with a 23-14 loss at Notre Dame in 1973 (when the Irish would go on to win the national championship).
