New Mexico will be the 146th different opponent Notre Dame has faced in its football history, and the 59th first- time opponent in Notre Dame Stadium since its opening in 1930. The Fighting Irish are 46-11-1 (.801 win percentage) versus first-time foes at home in those 89 years — and Brian Kelly has lost to five of them since 2010.

Answer: C. Ohio State lost 7-2 on Halloween 1936, its first game at Notre Dame Stadium. It came the year after Notre Dame rallied to win 18-13 at unbeaten Ohio State in what was voted as the best college football game in the first 100 years from 1869-1969. USC won in 1931, Texas in 1934 and Michigan in 1942.
