Notre Dame Takes The Lead For Elite 2021 OL Landon Tengwall Following Visit

Notre Dame took the lead for top 2021 offensive tackle Landon Tengwall this weekend.

Tengwall told Blue & Gold Illustrated as much following his first trip to South Bend.

"Honestly, I think they're my number one as of right now,” Tengwall said. “I've got a little way to go, but after this trip, I think they're No. 1. All of it put together, that's a great package for me.”

So how were the Irish able to leave such a strong impression on the highly touted prospect?

It was a combination of several things, orchestrated mostly by Irish offensive line coach Jeff Quinn.

Tengwall watched Quinn in action Saturday morning during spring practice and said he would love to play for him down the road.

“I got to see the coaching style I would get if I went to Notre Dame, and I loved it,” Tengwall said. “Coach Quinn was going a great job. He was really coaching his guys up out there. He’s a passionate guy. That’s the type of coaching you want.”

After practice, Tengwall met with Quinn and watched film of Irish offensive line legend Quenton Nelson, and the Olney (Md.) Good Counsel product said he’ll be taking some pointers from Quinn home with him.

“We went over some highlight tape and went over a lot of Quenton’s stuff,” Tengwall said. “I had my notepad out and was writing down stuff, so I came away with a little bit of new stuff, so that was great.”

Tengwall also spent time with the current Irish offensive line, who assured him Quinn is as genuine as he appears.
