Notre Dame Ranked 22nd In AP Poll Entering Postseason Play
Notre Dame is ranked 22nd entering the postseason.
The latest Associated Press media poll saw the Irish slide three spots in the rankings after beating Boston College and losing to No. 8 Louisville last week.
Six Atlantic Coast Conference teams are in the poll, led by regular season champion North Carolina at No. 6. Louisville (10), Duke (14), Florida State (16) and Virginia (21) are all ranked ahead of Notre Dame.
Notre Dame (23-8, 12-6) had its six-game winning streak snapped at Louisville and will be the No. 3 seed in the ACC Tournament. The Irish will play the winner of No. 6 Virginia vs. No. 11 Georgia Tech and No. 14 Pittsburgh.
The Irish were unranked entering the postseason last year.
BRACKET PROJECTIONS
There seems to be a consensus among bracketologists about where the Irish will be slotted in the NCAA Tournament.
Joe Lunardi of ESPN currently as the Irish as a five-seed in his NCAA Tournament projection, playing 12th-seeded North Carolina-Wilmington in the opening round in Orlando. The Seahawks play for the Colonial Athletic Association title tonight.
CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm also has Notre Dame as a five-seed, playing the play-in winner of the California vs. Rhode Island matchup in Milwaukee.
SB Nation has Notre Dame also as a five-seed, playing the play-in winner of the Vanderbilt vs. Illinois State matchup in Milwaukee.
Notre Dame was a three-seed when it made the Elite Eight in 2015. The Irish were a six-seed last season when they returned to the Elite Eight.
