Notre Dame completed its 12th practice of the 2019 spring inside Notre Dame Stadium. Our practice reports begin with a look at the Irish offense.

Quick Notes:

* Today was the first full-go practice for senior receiver Javon McKinley, who had missed part of the spring due to suspension and then a groin injury.

* Sophomore center Luke Jones was not at practice, and head coach Brian Kelly confirmed his intention to transfer following practice.

* Sophomore running back Jahmir Smith missed his second practice in a row.

* Sophomore wide receiver Braden Lenzy was not dressed during today’s practice.

* Junior center Colin Grunhard and fifth-year senior center Trevor Ruhland both continue to be out with injuries.

OFFENSIVE LINE

After a down day on Thursday, the Irish line was back to performing well during most of today’s practice. The line was especially good during the 1on1 period against the line, and it got good movement and showed good pass protection during much of the team periods.

Getting senior Liam Eichenberg back in a full-time role after he was slowed by a lingering ankle issue on Thursday certainly helped. Eichenberg had a quality day for the Irish on the left side. He split his 1on1 reps against end Ade Ogundeji, with Eichenberg stoning Ogundeji on rep one and then the senior end used good hand technique to get by Eichenberg late.

During the 3on3 period while working with the run game, Eichenberg got good movement at the point of attack, did a good job getting to the edge and he had a punishing second level block on a linebacker to open up the run lane to his backside. During team, Eichenberg got called for a hold but was otherwise solid to very good. He handled Ogundeji in pass protection, kept the backside clean and got good movement in the run game.

Eichenberg had an especially impressive perimeter pancake block on Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa that resulted in the junior defensive tackle getting up slow and limping off the field.
