The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame released their watch list today for the 2018 Bob Cousy Award, which honors the top point guard in college basketball.

Notre Dame's Matt Farrell was one of 20 players who made the list recognizing some of the top point guard talent across the country. The award is named for former Boston Celtic great and Holy Cross graduate Bob Cousy.

During the 2016-2017 season, Farrell averaged 15.4 points, 5.4 assists and 1.4 steals per game as a junior starting in all 36 games after appearing in 43 his first two seasons in South Bend.

“These twenty student-athletes truly represent the best in the college game today and we are eager to see what they will achieve in the 2017-18 season,” John L. Doleva, President and CEO of the Basketball Hall of Fame, said per the press release. “They exhibit many of the characteristics that made Bob Cousy a tremendous player and floor general and we are pleased to be recognizing them.”

Farrell and forward Bonzie Colson are expected to again lead the Irish in points and carry the program as senior leaders.

The list is flexible as players can move on or off throughout the course of the 2017-2018 campaign. In February, the list will be narrowed to 10 before five finalists are selected the following month. The winner will be presented during the ESPN College Basketball Awards Show which will be held April 6.

Notre Dame will face several players who also made the list including Trevon Duval of Duke, Louisville's Quentin Snider, Joel Berry II of North Carolina and Wake Forest's Bryant Crawford.
