Notre Dame Offers Maryland DT Ja'Mion Franklin

As expected, Notre Dame extended an offer to Ridgely (Md.) North Caroline defensive tackle Ja'Mion Franklin while on his visit to South Bemd.

Notre Dame began talking to defensive coordinator Mike Elko and linebackers coach Clark Lea and it seemed it was matter of when the staff would offer Franklin and not if. Defensive line coach Mike Elston has also communicated with the junior.

Franklin’s offer list also includes Louisville, Virginia, Vanderbilt, Duke, Navy, Northwestern and others. He has also taken visits to Clemson, Navy and Temple this year.

Franklin will be a name to watch moving forward. He held the Irish in high regard before he received the offer.

“They’re one of my top schools,” Franklin told Blue & Gold earlier this week. “Due to the tradition and the great education of the school.

“This offer would be huge for me, no doubt. Notre Dame is special and I’ve heard nothing but good things. Great tradition as well. They’d be a favorite for sure.”

Rivals ranks Franklin as the No. 11 player in Maryland and the No. 28 defensive tackle nationally. He recorded 63 tackles and six sacks as a junior.
