On Wednesday, Indianapolis North Central junior cornerback DJ Johnson worked out in front of several college coaches at his school including Notre Dame defensive line coach Mike Elston.
The 6-foot, 170-pounder ran a 4.5 40-yard dash as part of his workout which impressed Elston and the Irish staff enough to extend an offer to the in-state this afternoon.
Notre Dame joins Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota and Purdue as the Power Five offers for Johnson.
The junior took a couple of visits to South Bend this fall for Notre Dame’s games against Nevada and Stanford. Johnson told Blue & Gold last fall that Notre Dame is a dream school and an offer would “mean the world” to him.
Stay tuned to Blue & Gold for further updates on Johnson and how an Irish offer impacts his recruitment.
