Notre Dame extended an offer Wednesday to Greenwood (Ind.) Center Grove 2017 four-star athlete Russ Yeast.

The Rivals250 prospect has been committed to Louisville since October, and also took official visits to Auburn and Iowa before pledging to the Cardinals. Yeast committed to Kentucky earlier in the process.

With only two weeks remaining until National Signing Day, Notre Dame has work to do on Yeast even though he is an in-state prospect. The offer is not only late in the process, but it is to a committed prospect. The staff will first need to convince Yeast to consider a visit and grow a relationship with the four-star quickly. It is unclear at the moment whether Yeast is being recruited by the Irish on the offensive or defensive side of the ball.

According to MaxPreps, Yeast rushed for 1,525 yards and 19 touchdowns on 187 carries this past season. He added 602 yards and eight touchdowns as a receiver on 32 catches. Center Grove fell in the Class 6A state championship game.

Yeast is ranked as the No. 21 athlete and and the No. 231 overall player nationally by Rivals. He participated in the Under Armour All-America Game earlier this month.

Yeast also took part in the 2015 Irish Invasion.
