Per his Twitter, Notre Dame has extended an offer to Butler (Ga.) Taylor County junior tailback Lyn-J Dixon.

Alabama, Georgia, Florida, LSU, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Virginia Tech are among the programs to have offered the No. 7 all-purpose back.

During his junior season, Dixon rushed for 1,914 yards and 35 touchdowns on 229 carries, according to MaxPreps. Dixon was selected to the Class A Public All-State team by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The 5-foot-11, 177-pounder has been in contact with the Irish for about the past month or so. He told Blue & Gold earlier this month he had been communicating with running backs coach Autry Denson for about two weeks.

“I haven’t really got to know him like that," Dixon said of his conversations with Denson earlier this month. "But, in the times we’ve talked I can tell he is about what he says and that his about business and he a good man."

“It really is something special [to be in contact with Notre Dame]. Especially looking at Notre Dame’s past and all the good teams that they’ve had. It would be special for them to offer me.”

Dixon said in the same interview he would likely visit South Bend if he earned an offer from the Irish.
