After striking out at cornerback in the 2017 cycle, Notre Dame is looking to add multiple players at the position in 2018.

The Irish staff continues to evaluate the top players across the country and target the best fits. The board expanded this morning with a new offer.

Per his Twitter, Notre Dame has extended an offer to Atlanta Hapeville Charter product Chris Smith.

The 6-0, 165-pounder committed to Georgia on May 1 and also holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Miami (Fla.), Michigan, Ohio State and USC, among others. Rivals ranks Smith as the nation's No. 15 cornerback and No. 171 player nationally.

Smith is taking an official visit to Michigan this weekend, so he is open to other schools. Notre Dame will look to do the same.

Per Rivals analyst Chad Simmons, Irish defensive backs coach Todd Lyght extended the offer. Smith isn't just yet if he will take a trip to Notre Dame.

Smith is the second cornerback committed elsewhere to land an Irish offer in the past month. Washington (D.C.) H.D. Woodson product and Maryland commit Noah Boykin added Notre Dame to his offer list last month.
