According to Rivals Southeast analyst Woody Wommack, Notre Dame has offered Atlanta Pace Academy three-star athlete Deon Jackson.

Jackson, a current Duke commit, was in South Bend for Irish Invasion this past summer and impressed the staff, but Hamden (Conn.) Cheshire Academy standout running back C.J. Holmes committed to Notre Dame soon after and the class was getting close to full.

The Pace standout had a strong senior season, standing out on both sides of the ball, the point the Notre Dame staff felt they had to get him in the class. There was talk of him getting an offer before the recent decommitments, so this is not a reaction to the loss of defensive backs Paulson Adebo and Elijah Hicks earlier this week.

Notre Dame evaluated Jackson at running back during the summer and originally wanted to land two backs in the 2017 class.

Jackson is ranked as the No. 59 athlete in the class and is currently committed to Duke. He rushed for 1,138 yards (7.3-yard average) and 10 touchdowns while racking up 50 tackles and three picks as a safety.

Blue & Gold Illustrated football analyst Bryan Driskell grades Jackson out as a four-star recruit. His breakdown of Jackson can be found HERE.

A Notre Dame offer could be a game-changer for Jackson.
