The 2017 offer train continues to roll for the Irish coaching staff after an offer was extended to Shawnee Mission (Kansas) Bishop Miege three-star wide receiver Jafar Armstrong.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Armstrong has been committed to Missouri since June. He is from the same high school as former Tiger Shane Ray, a 2015 first round pick of the Denver Broncos who visited Notre Dame.

Armstrong was offered a scholarship by Notre Dame offensive coordinator Chip Long, who has quickly got to work after being hired on Jan. 9.

Notre Dame's staff has long desired to add three receivers in the 2017 class, and after Winter Park (Fla.) receiver Jordan Pouncey de-committed last month there is room for at least two more wideouts to go along with Destrehan (La.) standout Michael Young.

Former Notre Dame center Tim Grunhard is the offensive line coach at Bishop Miege, but it remains to be seen whether or not the Irish offer will cause Armstrong to look seriously at Notre Dame.

As a senior, Armstrong caught 54 passes for 1,277 yards and 21 touchdowns while helping lead Bishop Miege to its third consecutive state championship.

Armstrong is ranked as the No. 79 wide receiver in the nation and the No. 3 player in the state of Kansas. Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and Kansas have also extended an offer.

Armstrong reportedly recorded a time of 10.83 seconds in the 100 meter dash last May in the Class 4A state championship.
