Notre Dame No. 9 In Preseason Coaches Poll

Notre Dame will begin the 2016 season ranked No. 9 in the preseason coaches poll.

The Irish — coming off a 10-3 season in 2015 — received 1,034 points. Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma, Florida State, Ohio State, LSU, Stanford and Michigan are all ranked ahead of Notre Dame.

The Associated Press preseason Top 25 will be released Aug. 21.

Three of Notre Dame’s 2016 opponents also enter the season ranked in the coaches poll: Stanford (7), Michigan State (11) and USC (17). The Irish edged No. 10 Tennessee, which finds itself in the Top 10 for the first time in nearly a decade, since Oct. 29, 2006.

After losing the Fiesta Bowl to Ohio State last year, Notre Dame finished No. 12 in the final coaches poll.

The complete poll can be found HERE.

The poll is a result of the vote of 64 FBS coaches. Notre Dame's Brian Kelly is among the voters.
