Notre Dame No. 10 In Associated Press Preseason Poll

Notre Dame will start the season with its highest ranking of the Brian Kelly era.

The Irish are ranked No. 10 in the Associated Press preseason poll, which was released Sunday morning. That's the highest preseason AP ranking since beginning the 2006 season No. 2.

Alabama is the preseason No. 1., followed by Clemson, Oklahoma, Florida State, LSU, Ohio State, Michigan, Stanford and Tennessee.

Only nine schools were listed by all 61 AP voters on preseason ballots: Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma, Florida State, LSU, Ohio State, Michigan, Tennessee and Notre Dame.

The Irish were the preseason No. 11 team in 2015 and finished 10-3 with a loss to Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl.

Notre Dame will face just three ranked opponents in No. 8 Stanford, No. 12 Mighigan State and No. 20 USC.
