Notre Dame Football: Midweek Musings
Midweek thoughts about the Notre Dame football program, its recruiting efforts and college football.
IS NOTRE DAME'S TACKLE TANDEM READY TO BREAKOUT?
It’s no secret that Notre Dame must get much better production from its offense if its going to make another playoff run in 2019. It’s also no secret that the offensive line is an integral part of that improvement, if not the very foundation of the offense.
Elite production from the line requires a group of five players working together at a high level, but within that there are keys to success. For Notre Dame, getting production from the tackles is essential, and the Fighting Irish have a chance to have one of the nation’s best tackle tandems this season.
Senior left tackle Liam Eichenberg is an extremely talented player that flashed impact ability last season, but his inability to consistently play under control held him back. Right tackle Robert Hainsey is the complete opposite, he’s a consistent and poised tackle that lacked the power to dominate at a high level.
Eichenberg needs to be more like Hainsey from a consistency and composure standpoint, and Hainsey needs to flash the ability to be even more impactful.
