Notre Dame began the season unranked for the first time since the 2012 season, but the Irish have steadily risen up the polls. The Irish enter the second half of their schedule ranked No. 13 in the Associated Press Poll and No. 16 in the Amway Coaches Poll.

At 5-1, the Irish are the seventh highest ranked one-loss team in the poll. Its only loss was to Georgia, who has risen all the way up to No. 3 in the polls after a 53-28 beat down of Missouri. Notre Dame’s most impressive win of the season was a 38-18 road victory over Michigan State, who is No. 18 in the most recent poll.

The final six games of Notre Dame’s schedule is littered with teams in the latest AP Top 25.

On Saturday, the Irish host No. 11 USC (6-1), which had a 28-27 comeback victory over Utah last night.

The following week Notre Dame will host No. 16 NC State (6-1), which beat Pittsburgh 35-17. The Wolfpack have a bye week this weekend prior to the matchup against Notre Dame.

Following a home game against 4-2 Wake Forest on Nov. 4, the Irish will travel to Miami to take on the No. 8 ranked Hurricanes (5-0), who knocked off Georgia Tech 25-24 with a last second field goal.

Navy (5-1) entered the weekend No. 25 but lost 30-27 to new No. 25 Memphis. The Midshipmen are now No. 34 in the polls.

Notre Dame ends the season with a road trip against Stanford (5-2), who climbed up to No. 22 after a dominating 49-7 home win over Oregon. The Cardinal are the second highest ranked 2-loss team in the country.

The only poll that truly matters is the College Football Playoff poll that will be released for the first time on Oct. 31.
