The Notre Dame coaching staff is back on the road this week, visiting prospects all around the country.

On Tuesday, wide receivers coach DelVaughn Alexander stopped in at Destrehan (La.) High to check in on three-star 2019 running back Quinton Torbor, who said he was honored to have a Notre Dame staff member come by.

“It’s big,” Torbor said. “Knowing that the school is so far away, and just the school history, it’s a great school and a great program.”

Torbor said he’d been communicating with Notre Dame a little bit leading up to the visit, and is looking forward to building a relationship with the staff.

“They just want to get to know me,” he said. “They want me to be a friend before a recruit.”

Notre Dame’s recruitment of Torbor is definitely in the early stages, but the Louisiana talent said he has plenty of interest in Notre Dame.

Although he is far away from Notre Dame in Louisiana, Torbor is familiar with the program after being teammates with current Irish freshman wide receiver Michael Young.

Torbor joked that Young told him everything about South Bend is perfect other than the weather.

“I’ve heard from Mike that it gets cold up there,” he said. “Other than that, he said everything’s good. He said, ‘The only thing that’s not home about it is the cold, but everything else is great.’”

Luckily for Notre Dame, weather won’t play much of a role in Torbor’s decision, but he does know a few things that will.

“I want to be celebrated and not tolerated,” he said. “You want to go somewhere they want you, not where they just make you feel welcome.”

As of now, Torbor holds offers from Auburn, Georgia, Kansas, Marshall, Memphis and Tulane.

Adding Notre Dame to that list, Torbor said, would be huge.

“That would mean a lot,” he noted. “It would weigh heavy on my list of offers.”
