Notre Dame Back In Mix For 2017 Defensive Tackle

Beaver Falls (Pa.)2017 defensive tackle Donovan Jeter. (Rivals)

A week ago, Beaver Falls (Pa.) four-star 2017 defensive tackle Donovan Jeter cut his list from nine to five. Alabama, Pittsburgh, Penn State, Ohio State and Tennessee moved on as the finalists for the 6-foot-5, 255-pounder. Notre Dame was not able to crack his final list.

Fast forward a week later, and Jeter announced via Twitter that the Irish were back in the picture. Jeter expanded his list from five to six with the addition of the Irish.

The reason Notre Dame is back in the mix is simple: Pittsburgh (Pa.) Central Catholic defensive lineman Kurt Hinish.

Hinish - a Notre Dame commit and fellow Western Pennsylvania native - has been selling Notre Dame to Jeter while the two were at Kentwood Amusement for an event for the Kennywood All-Star Preseason Football Team.

“We’re at Kennywood for this preseason selection team and we just started talking about [Notre Dame] and then I got to thinking more about it,” Jeter said.

While Hinish has helped restore Jeter's interest in the Irish program, the next step would be to finally get the nation's 12th best defensive tackle on campus. Only then will the Irish be considered true players in his recruitment.
