Martini, McGovern Cleared To Play Against Navy

• Freshman receiver Javon McKinley had surgery on his broken fibula Tuesday. The injury is season-ending.

Junior nose guard Daniel Cage (concussion) is not medically cleared and won’t travel with the team to Jacksonville.

Kelly said sophomore defensive lineman Brandon Tiassum will travel with the team and may play with Cage out. Pete Mokwuah is also elevated on the depth chart with Cage out.

• Junior linebacker Greer Martini and senior right guard Colin McGovern, who also suffered concussions against Miami, are both cleared to play.

• Kelly said a couple of Notre Dame’s coaches will get out and recruit on Friday night when the team gets into Jacksonville a day early.

Because of the early 11:30 a.m. kickoff, Notre Dame is leaving South Bend on Thursday night and holding a morning practice in Jacksonville to acclimate to the early kickoff.

• Kelly said sophomore tight end Alize Jones splits reps in practice between the scout team and 7-on-7's with the third stringers. Jones is sitting out this season with an academic suspension.
