Notre Dame has found its second tight end.
Arlington Heights (Ill.) St. Viator three-star tight end Cole Kmet committed to Notre Dame late Thursday, picking the Irish over his other finalist, Ohio State.

Kmet, who is ranked as the No. 10 tight end in the country, joins Cypress (Texas) Cy-Fair four-star tight end Brock Wright as early pledges in the class of 2017 for the Irish.
"They plan for me and him to be together," Kmet said. "[Associate head coach] Denbrock talked to me about how they plan to use double tights as much as possible. He believes that we compliment each other very well. They see me as more of a wide receiver tight end that can be split out wide and also come in on the line to catch passes."
Kmet visited Notre Dame for the Texas game back on Sept. 5, and was at Ohio State this past weekend to see the Buckeyes take on Western Michigan
The 6-4, 220-pound Kmet is ranked by Rivals.com as the No. 10 tight end in the country and the No. 5 prospect in Illinois. He caught 18 passes for 294 yards and a touchdown as a sophomore. His father — Frank Kmet — played at Purdue and had a brief stint in the NFL.
