Jairus Brents, a three-star corner out of Louisville (Ky.) Waggener liked what he saw during his visit to Notre Dame for the Duke game.

Brents, the No.33 cornerback in the class of 2018, said Notre Dame was everything he expected it to be.

“The visit to Notre Dame was good,” Brents said. “There was a lot of tradition that I had never seen before. It's definitely big time college football”

Brents has visited other schools, but said Notre Dame stuck out.

“It was a great experience for me I've been to other games before but Notre Dame is a different kind of environment”

The three-star has high in interest in Notre Dame, and said he feels like the interest is mutual.

“I hear from Notre Dame almost every day right now on Twitter or in the mail,” Brents said. “I’m starting to develop a strong relationship with the coaches.”

Brents does not yet hold a Notre Dame offer, but said he is optimistic one might be on the way soon.

“I spoke with the recruiting coordinators and (linebackers) coach (Mike) Elston,” Brents said. “They said they like me a lot and I should be hearing from them in the next week or so about an offer.”

If that offer does come, Brents said he would be ecstatic for a few different reasons.

“Notre Dame would be a really big offer for me,” Brents said. “It's a great academic school and also big time football.”

Brents does hold offers from Louisville, Tennessee and Mississippi State, among others.

During Notre Dame’s 38-35 loss to Duke, Brents said he started to get the itch to strap up and take the field.

“It was a good game,” Brents said. “I feel like both teams played well, it just came down to who got stops on defense. They threw the ball a lot in that game wish I could of been out there to make plays.”
