Jurkovec Named ALL-USA Offense Second Team By USA TODAY High School Sports

Notre Dame quarterback commit Phil Jurkovec continues to rack up honors recognizing his play throughout his stellar senior season at Gibsonia (Pa.) Pine-Richland.

USA TODAY High School Sports released the 2017 American Family Insurance ALL-USA Offense teams, among other honors, today and Jurkovec was selected to the second team.

The 6-foot-5, 190-pound Jurkovec threw for 3,969 yards, 39 touchdowns and just six interceptions this year while rushing for 1,211 yards and 24 touchdowns. He helped lead Pine-Richland to a Class 6A state championship and 16-0 record. The Rams finished the season ranked as the No. 12 team nationally per USA TODAY.

Today's honor is just the latest for Jurkovec this winter as he's been named Pennsylvania's Gatorade Player of the Year and Class 6A Player of the Year and is a finalist for U.S. Army Player of the Year, among others.

Jurkovec will have a chance to showcase his skills on a national stage Jan. 6 in the 2018 U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas.

A couple of Notre Dame targets were also recognized on the offensive side of the ball for ALL-USA.

Tampa (Fla.) Berkeley Prep offensive tackle and Notre Dame target Nick Petit-Frere joined Jurkovec on the second team while Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown was a first team selection. St. Brown had 72 catches for 1,320 yards and 20 touchdowns per the release.
