Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Siegel four-star defensive end Joseph Anderson is a top target for Notre Dame in the class of 2019 and Siegel head coach Micheal Copley said it’s easy to see why so many major programs are after him.

“He’s dynamic,” Copley said of Anderson. “He’s very special and god blessed him a lot of things and the sky is the limit for his development.”

Copley is headed into his second year as Siegel’s head coach, and said he’s began to notice a a new determination in Anderson this offseason.

“His best football is so much farther ahead of him,” Copley explained. “What he’s doing now that’s impressive for me is how he’s taken value in his teammates.”

Copley said Anderson’s dedication to his team and teammates is something not often seen in players of his status in the recruiting world.

“A lot of times you take guys of his caliber and it’s a ‘me’ thing,” Copley stated. “For him it’s a ‘we;’ thing with him and he’s really showing that with the investment he’s making.”

An attitude like Anderson’s, Copley said, is what can make a good football team great.

“When you can take a guy of his caliber and they buy into the team, that’s when you can have something special,” Copley said. “A lot of times you get guys that are special, but aren’t special teammates. To see how much investment he’s taken in our program and the people in our program is really helping this thing speed up.”

Of course, the football side of things is important too. Copley said he knows the talent he’s got in Anderson, but also knows how much better he’ll get as his career continues.

“He’s a good football player already, but you’re going to look up in two or three years and that guy is going to be unbelievably special,” Copley said. “I’m excited for his future and to look down the road in two or three years and see how special he really is.”
