OFFSEASON UPDATE

It was busy summer full of elite prospect camps for Takacs.

The Rivals250 member earned an invite to Nike Football's The Opening Finals following his performance at the Miami Regional on Feb. 26, where he checked in at 6-foot-7, 236 pounds.

During testing at the Miami Regional, Takacs ran 4.87-second 40-yard dash, a 4.47-second shuttle and recorded a 33.3-inch vertical jump. Takacs was the highest rated tight end at the event with an overall score of 101.49.

Takacs also competed at the Miami edition of the Rivals Three-Stripe Camp series on March 26.

The Irish commit was named TE/WR MVP at the camp and earned an invite to the Rivals Five-Star Challenge in Indianapolis on June 10.

THEY SAID IT

"He’s a matchup nightmare. Linebackers are too slow to cover him and safeties are too small. He creates a huge matchup problem for us. People have to know where he is at all times." - Gulf Coast head coach Pete Fominaya

"Takacs just goes about his business. He was not into the trash talking and showboating, but he consistently stood out with his size, the ability to get open and his reliable hands. He is not flashy and he is more of the old-school tight end with soft hands, but he was definitely one of the top overall performers" -Rivals.com staff following Takacs' performance at the Miami Rivals camp.

BGI EVALUATION

"Takacs is a traditional tight end that reminds me a great deal of former Notre Dame standout Kyle Rudolph at the same age. Like Takacs, Rudolph was very tall and skinny as a junior, but he had a frame that would allow him to eventually become a massive player. Takacs checked in this summer at the Nike Football The Opening Regional in Miami at 6-7 and 236 pounds. When it’s all said and done, Takacs will probably be over 260 pounds.

Takacs competes as a blocker, driving his feet well and using his strength to get the job done. Obviously, he’ll need to get stronger to handle the edge as a college player, but the tools are there. Takacs needs to learn to bend his knees in the run game better than he does now. The Gulf Coast tight end is a quality athlete that posted a 4.87 at The Opening and had a 33.3-inch vertical jump, which are impressive numbers for his size.

He lumbers a bit as a runner, but he covers a lot of ground. Takacs mostly works the underneath zones, but he can stretch the field and uses his size to out-play defenders for the ball. Takacs is quite raw fundamentally, and as that part of his game improves, so will his ability to dominate. As a pass catcher, Takacs has impressive ability. He is confident in his hands, he attacks the ball and he has a very wide catching radius"
