Hood wont wait, commits to Irish

Elijah Hood thought about it.
Then the five-star running back thought he'd thought enough.

Upon arriving home in Charlotte, N.C., on Sunday evening following a two-and-a-half day visit to Notre Dame, Hood committed to the Irish program. He'd barely finished showing off Notre Dame to his parents, who got their first look at the school.
Hood announced his decision on Twitter.
The quick commitment "shocked" his parents.
"He got home and he's like,  'I'm gonna pull the cord,'" said father Vee Hood. "I said go ahead. We're ready. We'll get to talk to Brian Kelly and talk to him about things. There was a lot of pressure on him right now. He's just a kid, he wants to have a fun senior year. That's the whole thing."
Hood had planned to return to Notre Dame in the coming months with his parents to meet with Kelly, who wasn't on campus during the visit. The family planned to head to North Carolina for another look too.
Instead, Hood became Notre Dame's first five-star commitment in this class and the highest-rated running back to commit to the program during the Rivals.com era.
"We've done a lot thinking about it already," Vee said. "Obviously he wants to be with the best. I can't turn him away from that. There's no way. You just don't turn down Notre Dame."
