Four-Star WR Amon-Ra St. Brown will Carry on Strong Family Name

The St. Brown name is becoming a popular one in the world of recruiting.

First, there was Equanimeous, a former four-star recruit who will be a sophomore at Notre Dame in the fall. After that, there was Osiris, a four-star receiver who recently committed to Stanford.

Now, there’s Amon-Ra St. Brown, a four-star receiver from the class at 2018 at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, Calif.

It’s a unique situation to have three siblings all be high profile recruits, but Amon-Ra said it didn’t come as a shock to his family.

“We’ve all been working really, really hard,” St. Brown said. “For this to happen, it’s surprising, but it’s what we expected because we put in work. I tell you, we work really hard. For us to be these top recruits, we’re all blessed.”

With Equanimeous at Notre Dame and Osiris soon to be at Stanford, Amon-Ra said he’d be grateful for the opportunity to play with either of his brothers, but that won’t ultimately impact his decision.

“Both of my brothers would love for me to go to Stanford or Notre Dame, but they understand that I’m going to do what’s best for me,” St. Brown said. “Whether that’s going to Notre Dame, Stanford UCLA, Alabama or wherever I go, they’re still going to support me. They understand that that at the end of the day, I have to do what’s best for me and they’re going to support me either way.”

According to Amon-Ra, Notre Dame receivers coach Mike Denbrock told him that he saw something unique in all three of the brothers.

“He said he sees all three of us as three different player,” Amon-Ra explained. “Equanimeous is more of the lengthy go get it type player. Osiris, he said, glides when he runs. Me, he said I’m more of a bulldog, more of a go get it, rise to the catch. He can put me anywhere on the field, swing routes. He talked to me about where he could use me in the offense.”

As far as his own recruitment goes, St. Brown said he doesn’t have a leader at the moment, but he is high on Notre Dame.

“Obviously I love Notre Dame,” said St. Brown, who caught 22 passes for 373 yards and three touchdowns as a sophomore. “One of my brothers goes there and I’ve always liked them since they started recruiting me. Stanford, I like them too. They’re both great schools. But I love Notre Dame and the way they run their program. Coach Kelly is a great guy.”

St. Brown added that he also has a strong relationship with Denbrock.

“The last time I talked to him was when I went up there for Irish invasion,” St. Brown said. “I think he’s a great coach. He’s solid with players and he knows what he’s doing and wants to do what’s best for the players.”

Like most players, St. Brown said his biggest goal is to get to the NFL, and wants to attend the school that can give him the best chance to do that.

“Football wise, I want to go to the NFL so any school that can feature me in their offense as a freshman early on will really help me out,” St. Brown said.
