Four-Star Wideout Tarik Black Has Irish In Top Five, But UCLA Leads

Notre Dame's coaches will have to fight an uphill battle if they want to land one of their top targets on the board.

Cheshire (Conn.) Academy four-star wide receiver Tarik Black revealed a top five this past weekend when pressed by Rivals.com's Mike Farrell at a Rivals Camp Series Presented by Under Armour stop in New Jersey.

Black told Farrell that UCLA leads Michigan with Stanford, Notre Dame and Alabama trailing — in order of preference.

The news comes just a few days after the Irish sent associate head coach Mike Denbrock and tight ends coach Scott Booker to Connecticut to evaluate and check up on Black in-person.

"They say that I'm their No. 1 priority for big receivers," Black said. "I definitely think that I could fit in their offense as a big time deep threat. I just know that they really want me and I can definitely see myself fitting into their offense."

The 6-3, 201-pound Black, who is ranked by Rivals.com as the nation's No. 17 wide receiver and No. 125 overall prospect, was in South Bend for a Junior Day back on March 21. He said that the plan — for now — is to return to campus for an official visit, but noted that trips to UCLA, Michigan, Stanford and Alabama also loom.

"I'm not really tempted to commit, I'm just embracing it all and taking my time to make sure I make the right decision," Black said.
