Four-star 2018 Lineman Talks Irish, Potential Offer

Chicago Mount Carmel 2018 four-star lineman Verdis Brown holds early offers from Florida State, Illinois and Missouri to name a few.

One school that hasn’t offered, but has been in contact with the 6-foot-4, 290-pounder is Notre Dame. Though he hasn’t been in much contact lately with the Irish, Brown said he is “hoping for that to change soon.”

“I think Notre Dame is a good school with a good program,” Brown said. “It’s a top D1 school that’s looking to take a chance on me.”

Brown was last at Notre Dame in late June for the ‘Lineman’s Challenge’ camp put on by the Irish staff. Brown said Notre Dame is a “nice, quiet place.”

Brown said the staff hasn’t talked to him about a potential offer. Brown said he wasn’t sure if an offer from Notre Dame would change his recruitment, but he knows the magnitude of receiving an offer from Notre Dame.

“I wouldn’t say it will change my recruitment. Maybe enhance,” Brown said. “It will mean a lot. It’s a big time school. I mean it’s Notre Dame.”

He is a man of few words. He did say he has high interest in the Notre Dame program.

When asked if he was working towards earning an offer from the Irish Brown said: “I’m not working towards an offer. I’m working towards a state championship. Making my team better, that’s all.”

With his focus on his junior season, Brown said he is unsure of future visits this fall and if he will make it to Notre Dame. He has been to Oho State, Illinois and Missouri this summer.

If he were to visit Notre Dame again, Brown wants to see the “school as a whole” and “some students to see the campus life.”

Notre Dame is recruiting Brown as an offensive lineman.
