Five-star PF Simisola Shittu Lands Irish Offer

Adding post players is a priority for Mike Brey and his staff as they look to replace the departing Bonzie Colson, Martinas Geben and Austin Torres following the conclusion of the 2017-2018 season.

The transfer market or the 2018 class are the two options for the Irish to replace the void left by the trio after the season.

Notre Dame added another potential target to the board this afternoon as the staff extended an offer to Saxton River (Vt.) Vermont Academy five-star power forward Simisola Shittu.

The 6-8, 220-pounder is ranked as the No. 10 player overall in the country and holds offers from Alabama, Connecticut, Louisville, Syracuse, Texas, UCLA and Vandy, among several others. Notre Dame has been communicating with Shittu for sometime.

Rivals national analyst Corey Evans recently caught up with Shittu to talk about his recruitment timeline and what he is looking for.

“Probably after the summer I will narrow it down, around August or September,” he said. “I guess [I want to go] where I can play my game, a lot of development, a lot of NBA alumni and a coach that lets his players play.”

Shittu averaged 19 points, 11 rebounds and almost three assists during the first two sessions of Nike's EYBL circuit last month with Evans adding: "[Shittu] is graced with excellent length, improving ball skills and quality finishing abilities."
