Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Siegel four-star defensive end Joseph Anderson wants to put his recruitment behind him before his senior season starts.

Anderson, a top Notre Dame target, said he not only wants to focus all his attention on football during his senior season, but also wants to begin building strong relationships with his future coaches and teammates.

“It’s big because it will help build the team I commit to and get other guys on the roster,” he said. “And just building a relationship with the coaches and knowing what I want to do when I get up there.”

After he makes a commitment, which will likely come in the spring or summer, Anderson will focus all his energy into improving his game and said there are several areas he wants to work on in his final high school season.

“I want to work on my speed, my pass rush and being more dominant than the year before,” Anderson said. “I want to be more physical and make for tackles for loss.”

To achieve those goals, Anderson said it all starts now.

“It’s just about working hard in the weight room and training really hard during the offseason,” he explained. “I’m doing footwork, working bag drills and working with my teammates here.”

Those teammates, Anderson said, have been a huge part of the success he’s seen so far in his high school career.

“It’s big,” Anderson stated. “It’s like a family here and they’re all rooting for me.”

Heading into his senior season at Siegel, Anderson is one the most coveted defensive ends in the country. Rivals lists him as the No. 27 strongside defensive end and No. 240 overall player in the class of 2019.

Anderson described himself as the kind of player every coach would want on their team.

“A field general,” Anderson said. “A player that’s agile and can do anything you tell him to do.”
