Carmody, Goodwin Win State Gatorade Player Of The Year Awards
The state Gatorade Players of the Year were announced today and two Notre Dame signees were honored for their performances during the 2017-2018 season.
Mars (Pa.) High shooting guard Robby Carmody claimed the Pennsylvania Gatorade Player of the Year after averaging 33.1 points, 14.1 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 4.0 steals per game while leading his team to its first Class 5A WPIAL title.
Carmody, the nation’s No. 81 overall player according to Rivals, and his Mars team begin their quest for a state championship on Friday.
Joining Carmody is Upper Arlington (Ohio) High shooting guard Dane Goodwin, who was tabbed as the Ohio Gatorade Player of the Year.
So far this season, Goodwin is averaging 23.9 points and 9.6 rebounds while leading his team to a 21-1 record. Upper Arlington is in the district finals on Friday. Goodwin, who is rated as the No. 99 overall player nationally by Rivals, also received OCC Central Division Player of the Year accolades.
Carmody and Goodwin are part of five-man 2018 class that Rivals ranks as the No. 11 group in the country.
