Notre Dame has been busy all spring evaluating cornerback prospects, and several of them will arrive in South Bend next weekend for the Irish Invasion.

One of the cornerback prospects that will work out at the annual camp is Chris Nash from Chandler (Ariz.) Hamilton.

Nash said he first heard from defensive backs coach Todd Lyght last week, and is looking forward to his trip to campus.

“I’m interested to see what their campus and facilities are like,” Nash said. “I’ve heard a lot of good things about Notre Dame, so I’m pretty excited.”

Of course, the main goal of the weekend is to perform well at the camp, which Nash said he believes he can do.

“I feel like I’m a sleeper recruit right now,” Nash said. “I feel like I can go out there and show something that they’re looking for and show that I can play.”

Nash’s recruitment certainly isn’t the big production that some are, but thanks to a positon switch from offense to defense, Nash said he’s starting to pick up some interest.

According to Nash, Arizona, Cal, Syracuse and UNLV have all been showing interest as of late.

Notre Dame joining that list of schools getting in touch with him, Nash said has been a welcomed surprise.

“It’s pretty big,” Nash said. “I’m pretty excited to up there and show what I can do.”

Getting the opportunity to work out with Lyght, Nash said, makes the visit all the more intriguing.

“I’m sure I can learn a lot from him,” Nash said. “Especially having just made that transition to defensive back recently. I’m ready for it.”

Right now, Notre Dame is just showing interest in Nash. However, a solid workout at the Irish Invasion could eventually spell an offer for the Arizona talent.

An Irish offer, Nash said, would be huge for him.

“That would mean a lot,” Nash said. “That would give me a head start to doing what I love.”
