Cole Mullins needed only one visit to Notre Dame to make his decision.

Three days after he visited the Irish with his family, the 6-foot-4, 240-pound Mullins announced Saturday his verbal commitment to Notre Dame.

Though Mullins has been slated by Rivals as an outside linebacker prospect, Notre Dame has been targeting Mullins as a defensive end since offering him in January. Defensive line coach Al Washington added his second commitment in as many days, with 2025 defensive tackle Davion Dixon, a four-star recruit, pledging on Friday and Mullins on Saturday.

Rivals has not yet assigned a star rating or position ranking to Mullins, who totaled 58 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and six sacks last season for the GHSA Class 7A state champions, Hoschton (Ga.) Mill Creek.

"Cole Mullins is all about power," said Rivals national recruiting director Adam Gorney. "We list him as an outside linebacker, but over time he will probably play exclusively off the edge and use his brute force to get in the backfield and make plays. He can blow up offensive tackles, and his best work comes on read-option plays where he can attack the ball and get the offensive player on the ground.

"I haven't seen him do too much work in space as an outside linebacker as he's more of a downhill player, which is fine, because his physical focus could go a long way in Notre Dame's defense."

Mullins' interest in Notre Dame was evident prior to him making his visit.

"It means a lot to have the opportunity to play for Notre Dame," Mullins told Inside ND Sports earlier this week. "The history and support the school and program have make it special."

Mullins reported 20 scholarship offers throughout his recruiting process, including USC, Miami, Stanford, North Carolina and Kentucky. Mullins showed high interest in Wake Forest and Duke, with multiple visits to both schools before seeing Notre Dame for himself.

Mullins gave Notre Dame its 10th verbal commitment in a 2024 class ranked No. 6 nationally by Rivals behind No. 1 Ohio State, No. 2 Georgia, No. 3 Michigan, No. 4 LSU and No. 5 Florida State. He joined four-star defensive tackle Owen Wafle as the second defensive line commitment in the class for the Irish.

Notre Dame could continue to add to either its 2024 or 2025 classes with more than 20 targets visiting campus this weekend for Saturday's Blue-Gold Game.
