Notre Dame hosted a larger number of prospects over the weekend, including 2021 wide receiver Theo Grabill of Overland Park (Kan.) St. Thomas Aquinas.

Grabill, a 6-2, 175-pound sophomore, said he was more than impressed by what he saw in South Bend.

“I really liked it a lot,” he said of the trip. “We got there five hours before the game and people were already tailgating. People were out there the whole day, and in the game everyone was up an active.”

The highlight of the trip was, of course, Notre Dame’s 38-17 win over No. 7 Stanford.

Grabill said the atmosphere inside Notre Dame Stadium was like nothing he’s ever seen before.

“It honestly feels like an NFL game in there,” Grabill explained. “It gets super loud and there were no empty seats in there. It was crazy watching it. It was really cool.”

Any game at Notre Dame Stadium would have been a great experience for the young standout pass catcher, but Grabill said the fact that it was two top-10 teams made it that much better.

“It’s really fun to watch two teams like that go at each other,” Grabill said. “It was a really exciting game with some big plays. It’s so much fun to watch two top teams play each other like that.”

Outside of the game, Grabill said he tried to soak up as much information about Notre Dame as possible.

Grabill said after learning how the university operates, he’s definitely interested in continuing to be recruited by the Irish.

“I like the fact that it’s really structured,” Grabill said. “They have really good academics, and everything they do is really structured. They’ll get you places you want to go in life if you really apply yourself.”

So far, Grabill holds two early offers, one from Arizona State and the other from Nevada.

It’s early in the process from Grabill, but if Notre Dame does eventually decide to jump on board, the Irish will have a definite shot at landing the Kansas talent.

“That would be amazing,” Gabrill said of a potential offer. “A top school like that, a school with that atmosphere, it would be amazing to have an offer from them.”
