2021 DE Landon Jackson Excited To Land Notre Dame Offer
Notre Dame recently jumped in the mix for Landon Jackson, a 2021 defensive end from Texarkana (Texas) Pleasant Grove.
The 6-foot-5, 195-pound Jackson has been to South Bend before and has been a fan of the Irish for a while now.
Landing an offer from Notre Dame, Jackson said, was a huge moment for him.
“It was pretty big for me,” Jackson told Blue & Gold Illustrated after the offer came. “I’ve been on them for a minute. I went to one of their camps this past summer and liked it a lot up there. It was really exciting getting that offer.”
Jackson said the history surrounding the university and the football program caught his attention early on, as did the Irish staff.
“I like all the tradition they have and I like the coaching staff too,” Jackson explained. They’re all really good people up there.”
While on campus over the summer, Jackson got the full Irish experience, and said he loved everything about what Notre Dame has to offer.
“It wasn’t so much of the football stuff that wowed me,” Jackson said. “It was more of how beautiful the school was, the campus and just everything around it.”
The Irish coaching staff apparently made a strong impression on Jackson as well.
“You can tell they’re all good people” Jackson said. “They’re not just being nice to get you there, they’re good people when you get there too.”
As just a rising junior, Jackson already holds a solid offer list, including Notre Dame, Alabama, Florida State, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M, and several others.
As his recruitment process continues, Jackson said he’ll be looking for a place he feels is a good fit on and off the field.
“I look for the defense I’ll play best in and how good they’ve been doing,” Jackson said. “Also how much I like the coaching staff.”
