This coming weekend will be an important one for Notre Dame. Not only will the Irish be looking to bounce back from a blowout loss at Miami, they’ll also host some important visitors from different recruiting classes.

One class of 2020 prospect who will be in town is Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy cornerback LeJond Cavazos. One of the most highly recruited players in the class of 2020, the sophomore said he’s looking forward to seeing Notre Dame up close.

“I’m very excited,” Cavazos said. “It’s a campus my parents have always wanted me to see.”

The Florida talent said he doesn’t know all that much about Notre Dame yet, but did mention that he’s taken notice of how the Irish defense has been playing so far this year.

“They have a tremendous defense,” Cavazos said. “It’s fast and physical.”

The recruitment process is in its early stages for Cavazos, but that doesn’t mean the IMG product doesn’t already know some things he’s looking for in a school.

Cavazos takes relationships seriously, and said they will play a major role in his future decision.

“Relationships with the coaches,” Cavazos said. “That’s the key factor in my recruitment.”

Even though it’s early, Cavazos already holds offers from some of the top programs in college football. His list includes Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma and several others.

Adding Notre Dame to that group, Cavazos said, would be huge.

“It would mean a lot to me coming from [defensive backs] Coach [Todd] Lyght because of how long he’s been recruiting me,” Cavazos said. “I’d Just want to make sure it’s the right fit for me.”
