Notre Dame linebackers coach Clark Lea left a big impression on 2019 linebacker/defensive end Aeneas Dicosmo during Irish Invasion.

Dicsomo, a Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic Product, said the workout was his first crack at playing linebacker, and he reportedly picked up a ton of pointers on the position from Lea.

“It was a lot of fun,” Dicosmo said. “I learned a lot. It was my first time working with linebackers and I got a lot from that. Coach Lea did a great job.”

Dicosmo said Lea was attentive and informative during the event, and that made for an all-around great camp.

“He gave great instruction through all the drills we were doing,” Dicosmo said. “It seems like he knows a lot about what he’s talking about and I gained a lot from working with him.”

Along with Lea, Dicosmo also got to spend time with defensive coordinator Mike Elko, who has apparently taken an interest in the young standout’s skills.

“He’s a great guy,” Dicosmo said. “He showed a lot of interest when he came to Bergen, so that’s pretty exciting.”

Dicosmo was also impressed with what he saw during his campus tour.

The sophomore said he’d heard plenty about the beauty of Notre Dame, but seeing it up close was a whole different animal.

“It’s just so beautiful,” Dicosmo said. “Touchdown Jesus and the golden dome, there’s just so much history there. It was great to finally see it in person. You see it in pictures and hear about it, but actually seeing it is like…wow. It’s fantastic.”

Just getting the opportunity to visit Notre Dame, Dicosmo said, was a big deal.

“It’s a treat,” Dicosmo said. “I’ve been working hard these past few years. To finally see the benefits of that stuff is great.”
