2019 In-state LB Chase Triplett Enjoys Recent Irish Visit
This past weekend Michigan City (Ind.) High 2019 linebacker Chase Triplett made the short drive to South Bend to visit the Irish program during the Miami (Ohio) game.
The junior enjoyed watching the Irish during their 52-17 win over Miami (Ohio) and experiencing the game day atmosphere inside Notre Dame Stadium.
“My experience with Notre Dame was amazing,” Triplett told Blue & Gold Illustrated. “From the atmosphere and fans to the players and coaches and even the staff working there. They were all pumped and excited and friendly.
“I was able to be on the field before the game, talk to the coaches and be in the locker room after the game. My favorite part was watching the game. I love football and they really put on a show on both sides of the ball.”
Given he status as a linebacker for his Michigan City team, the 6-foot-3, 205-pounder paid attention to the Irish defense during the game.
“The game was unbelievable and they played great,” Triplett explained. “The defense created turnovers and played physical and got the job done … The game atmosphere was electrifying. All the fans where in it from start to finish.”
Triplett also took noticed of the history of the Irish program while he was in town.
“The tradition stands out the most,” Triplett said. “It’s what makes Notre Dame unique.”
Though the conversations were not in-depth, Triplett did have a chance to speak with the Notre Dame staff.
“The time with the staff was brief, but they just asked me about how I’m doing and how my season is [going],” Triplett stated.
Overall, Triplett rated the visit a 10 out of 10 noting “there was nothing bad” about his trip.
Triplett is still waiting for his first offer, but is hearing from programs such as Minnesota, Purdue, Ball State and Miami (Ohio). He wouldn’t mind if the Irish were the first to extend him an offer.
“It would mean a lot,” Triplett stated. “A true blessing from God. Not only would it be my first offer, but it would be a dream come true. All the work I have put in and time I’ve spent in the weight room paid off. I promised my parents they wouldn’t have to pay for me to go to college.”
According to MaxPreps, Triplett recorded 93 tackles and five sacks last season during his sophomore campaign.
