2019 F Nobal Days 'Can't Wait' For Irish Visit

While Notre Dame’s 2018 class may have a little unfinished business, the staff is already putting in work on the junior class (2019).

The staff hosted one of the top juniors this past weekend in Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha point guard Justin Moore. Another will make his way to South Bend on Friday: Racine (Wisc.) Park High power forward Nobal Days.

Notre Dame has not offered the talented 6-foot-8, 200-pounder, but his current offer list includes Wisconsin, Marquette, Illinois, Northwestern, Boston College, Kansas State and DePaul, among others, while schools like Virginia, Stanford, Purdue and Yale are also showing interest.

Assistant Ryan Humphrey made his way to Wisconsin this fall to check in on the three-star and has been in communication since the June 15 contact period opened.

“I’m hyped about it. It’s exciting,” Days said about hearing from the Irish. “Notre Dame is a premier program. Any kid would be weakened to have Notre Dame looking at them. Coach [Mike] Brey is one of the elite coaches in the ACC and is known for building elite teams and players.

“I like that it’s a high academic school. My mom is a college academic advisor and stresses the importance of attending a school that degree is known worldwide.”

Though he hasn’t visited before, Days is intrigued by the Irish. He’s looking forward to his first trip.

“It appears Coach Brey has created a winning culture and with the recruits coming in, they are going to be good,” Days said. “Nate [Laszewski] and Prentiss [Hubb] recently verbally committed and they are going to surprise a few people in the ACC.

“I’m very interested and can’t wait to get on campus and just explore, meet people, players and coaches. I haven’t had much exposure to Notre Dame’s campus.

“I’m interested in talking to the players and students. I’m also interested in talking about what are the future plans Coach Brey and Humphrey have for the program and if they see me fitting in to the program.

Humphrey and Days are off to a strong start in their relationship.

“Coach is honest, tell it like it is coach,” Days said of Humphrey. “… He is not scared to tell me what I need to work on, and what improvements I need to make to play at the college level. He not only tells me about what I need to play at the college level, but what I need to improve to play at the ACC level. I like his motivation.”

At a recent camp, NY2LA Futures Camp, Days was described as “one of the best passing frontcourt prospects in America” by Rivals national analyst Corey Evans. And that’s how Days sees his game.

“I’m a facilitator,” Days said. “I like to think I make everyone around me better. I pride myself on being the guy that can reward the cutter. I make sure the bigs get paint touches, take the ball off the rim and push the ball up court leading the break. I’m a solid defensive player and rebounder.

“I’m also a teammate that will do anything. Hype up the bench, get water for the players in the game, grab warm ups left on the floor. I try to be a do it all teammate.”

Days will be a name to continue to monitor in regards to the Irish and surely will continue adding offers throughout the process.
