Notre Dame is still evaluating prospects in the class of 2018, and things will start to ramp up with rising senior prospects in the next few weeks as the 2017 cycle comes to a close.

Chase Williams, a four-star 2018 wide receiver out of Corona (Calif.) Eleanor Roosevelt, said he’s been hearing from Notre Dame. His main contact with the Irish was former offensive coordinator Mike Sanford, but he said the Irish have remained interested since Sanford’s departure.

Williams, the No.21 receiver and No. 131 overall player in the land according to Rivals.com, said Sanford told him a ton of good things about the school before departing for Western Kentucky.

“I would just ask him about the school itself and the football program,” he said. “I’ve been receiving letters for a little while now.”

Williams told Rivals national analyst Adam Gorney that Notre Dame told him they’d be keeping an eye on him during the coming months.

“I know Notre Dame was saying they’re going to keep watching me through the offseason and see how I’m doing,” Williams said.

Even though he’s all the way out in California, Williams said he’s plenty familiar with Notre Dame.

“It’s kind of a family school for me,” he said. “My family is from Ireland, so with the Fighting Irish, it’s a school that my family has always loved. That makes it a big school for me.

“It’s just a big school. They have great tradition, great academics and a great program."

Landing an offer from Notre Dame, Williams said, would be a dream come true.

“It would be great,” he said. “It would be fantastic. I’d love to have an offer from Notre Dame. It’s known to be a very successful program.”

Williams mentioned Cal, Washington and Ole Miss as the schools that are most heavily involved in his recruitment at the moment. The four-star was also offered by Oregon on Tuesday night.
