The Rivals100 defender picked up an offer from Notre Dame after deciding to just play football in college, giving up a previous desire to also play baseball. Bauer quickly jumped on the offer.

Bauer made a trip to Notre Dame this June for the Irish Invasion, and was one of the defensive standouts from the camp. That followed up a strong sophomore season in which he racked up 111 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks to help lead Cathedral Prep to a 14-2 record and a trip to the PIAA AAA state championship game.

His dominant sophomore season resulted in Bauer earning Pennsylvania Class AAA all-state honors. He was the only sophomore to make the all-state team.

Bauer becomes the sixth player from the 2018 class to pledge to Notre Dame, adding to what is already a program best haul of rising juniors. The Cathedral Prep standout is the second Rivals100 player to commit to Notre Dame, joining quarterback Phil Jurkovec. He is also the second linebacker, joining Farmington Hills (Mich.) Harrison linebacker Ovie Oghoufo, who committed to the Irish on July 22.
