2018 PF Chris Doherty Is Irish

Marlborough (Mass.) High 2018 power forward Chris Doherty visited Notre Dame for the Wake Forest game and left South Bend with his latest offer.

It didn’t take long for Doherty to accept the Irish offer and become the newest member of Notre Dame’s 2018 class.

The 6-foot-7, 225-pounder committed to Mike Brey and his program to become Notre Dame’s fifth commitment joining point guard Prentiss Hubb, shooting guards Robby Carmody and Dane Goodwin, and forward Nate Laszewski.

Boston College, Rutgers, Towson, Vermont, Florida Gulf Coast, Manhattan and Central Connecticut State also offered the three-star prospect.

Doherty played on the AAU circuit this past year with Laszewski as part of the New England Playaz program.

Rivals national analyst Eric Bossi had this to say about Doherty after watching him in late July in Las Vegas.

“A rugged and tough guy, Doherty never backed down or gave an inch without fighting and as far as I'm concerned there isn't any team that couldn't use a guy like Doherty,” Bossi stated.

Doherty will be more of a post-presence to complement the three Irish guard commits and Laszewski who will be used a stretch-forward.

Before Doherty’s commitment, Notre Dame’s 2018 class ranked No. 11 in the country and third in the ACC behind Duke (1st) and North Carolina (4th). The other four Irish commits rank inside the top-106 nationally.
